How it Happened: Connecticut Beats Aruba 4-2 in Third Place Game at Little League World Series

South Williamsport, PA – Connecticut’s Fairfield National ended its magical summer by defeating Aruba 4-2 in the third-place game at Lamade Stadium during the Little League World Series on Sunday morning, August 23, 2025. This victory marks the Nutmeg State’s first consolation win since Bridgeport’s North End defeated Michigan in 1957.

As many as 40,000 spectators attended the Asia-Pacific and Caribbean International Championship at the Little League World Series complex, eagerly awaiting the matchup ahead of the US Championship game between Metro (Fairfield National) and Mountain.

The Fairfield boys broke the deadlock in the third inning using a small-ball strategy, including a groundball that hopped over the shortstop’s head, combined with opportunistic baserunning to take a 3-0 lead. Aruba quickly responded with two runs in the bottom of the frame, but pitcher Tommy D’Amura shut down the Caribbean representatives for the final 3.1 innings.

Connecticut added an insurance run in the top of the sixth inning when SJ Taxiltaridis scored on an RBI groundout from his brother, Jimmy. D’Amura retired the Aruba lineup in order to secure the third-place victory.

Fans will have one last opportunity to cheer on the little league stars, as Fairfield town officials announced a celebratory parade scheduled for Monday evening in honor of the team’s impressive summer performance.
