ORANJESTAD (AAN): Aruba’s tourism success is deeply rooted in its people, emphasized Minister of Tourism Mr. Wendrick Cicilia during the recent parliamentary debate on the Tourism Product Enhancement Funds (TPEF) budget.

Minister Cicilia explained that human capital is the cornerstone of the tourism industry, alongside Aruba’s natural beauty, beaches, and unique cultural elements that contribute to the island’s authentic identity. These factors are crucial in determining how the government plans to allocate the funds.

Previously, around eighty percent of the TPEF budget was spent on infrastructure projects. However, under the new AVP-Futuro Cabinet’s vision, there will be a shift towards investing more in people’s education and training, nature conservation, and sustainable beach management.

The Minister described the parliamentary session as highly productive, with the TPEF budget receiving strong majority approval, signaling a clear commitment to enhancing Aruba’s tourism product through sustainable and people-centered development.
