Aruban Parliamentarian Shailiny Tromp-Lee, from the Movimiento Electoral di Pueblo (MEP), recently took part in official activities in Curaçao to celebrate Emancipation Day (July 1st) and Flag Day (July 2nd), two events of deep national and historical significance.

Representing Aruba in an official capacity, Tromp-Lee described the visit as a beautiful and emotional experience. On July 1st, she attended the Flag Lowering Ceremony at Plaza Brion, followed by a symbolic procession to Fort Amsterdam, where the official Emancipation Day ceremony took place.

That evening, a powerful cultural show unfolded at Fort Amsterdam—featuring music, dance, and a rich tribute to tambú, Curaçao’s traditional musical heritage. The event honored historical figures who played vital roles in preserving this cultural legacy and emphasized the ongoing pursuit of justice and equality for all.

On July 2nd, she joined a solemn parliamentary session and the official Flag Day ceremony, filled with music, dance, and recognitions of outstanding citizens. In a special moment, her own father, Ramon Lee, received an honorary mention, a proud and emotional highlight for the Tromp-Lee family.

Tromp-Lee expressed deep gratitude for the warm hospitality she received, and reflected on the importance of honoring history, national symbols, and the people who continue to build a more inclusive and united Curaçao.
