Bali pier safety concerns have resurfaced after vehicles returned to a structure that had previously been closed, according to an October 16 report by 24ora.
Part of the entrance barrier is missing
The outlet reported that part of a barricade installed by the Department of Public Works, DOW, was no longer in place, allowing cars onto the pier again.
The outlet described deterioration and sinking in part of the structure and warned that a section could collapse.
Authorities asked to clarify access controls
The report questioned how access to the closed structure was being controlled while vehicles continued to use it.
24ora said it had approached the relevant authorities for clarification but had not received answers by the time its account was published.
