Tournament Runs October 15–18
The Aruba Chess Challenge will return from October 15 through 18 with U-12, U-18 and Open divisions. According to 24ora, organizers expect players from Aruba and several overseas delegations, including participants representing Antigua, the Bahamas, Jamaica, Bonaire, Curaçao, France and Italy.
Organizers Hope to Exceed Last Year's Field
The previous edition attracted 126 players, and the Aruba Chess Federation hopes to surpass that total this year. Federation president Jose Pesqueira and Carol Pesqueira-Williams continue to lead the tournament, while international trainer and tournament arbiter Lazaro Bueno Perez said the competition is designed for players across age groups and experience levels.
RBC Returns as Lead Sponsor
RBC Royal Bank is again serving as the principal sponsor. Aruba director Pierre Rafini said the bank views the tournament as a community activity that brings generations together, while federation representatives credited the support with helping them develop the event and provide a welcoming competitive setting.
