ORANJESTAD, Aruba — SETAR Aruba Cleanup Support will strengthen the National Day to Care for Aruba through sponsorship of waste containers, transportation assistance and customer communications promoting the island-wide initiative.

Prime Minister Mike Eman and SETAR director Roland Croes announced the telecommunications company’s participation during a press conference held on Wednesday.

The national campaign will take place on Saturday, July 25, 2026, and seeks to unite residents, companies, schools, churches, clubs and community organizations in efforts to clean and maintain Aruba.

SETAR Provides Logistical and Communication Support

SETAR will support the campaign in several practical ways.

The national telecommunications company will sponsor waste containers that can be used to collect litter and other approved materials during the cleanup.

SETAR will also cover transportation expenses associated with moving filled containers to the appropriate waste-disposal locations.

In addition, the company will use its mobile communications network to inform customers about the campaign and remind them of the July 25 activities.

The customer messages are expected to help the campaign reach a wider audience and encourage more residents to participate.

Environmental Responsibility Guides Participation

Croes said SETAR’s involvement is consistent with the company’s work involving environmental protection, sustainable development and responsible governance.

These priorities are connected to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, which encourage organizations to consider the environmental and social effects of their activities.

According to Croes, keeping Aruba clean is a responsibility shared by the entire community.

A clean and properly maintained island is important for residents’ well-being and also affects the impression visitors receive when they travel to Aruba.

SETAR Aruba Cleanup Support therefore combines corporate responsibility with practical assistance for a national community initiative.

CEDE Aruba Coordinates Contributions

CEDE Aruba director Daniel Tecklenborg said the organization will coordinate contributions from businesses, foundations, community groups and individual volunteers.

Companies interested in providing workers, equipment, drinking water, refreshments, materials or other donations can contact CEDE Aruba.

The organization is collaborating with Bureau City Inspector to form volunteer teams and assign them to specific cleanup locations.

Several areas have already been identified as requiring assistance, including locations in San Nicolas, Brazil and Cura Cabai Zuid.

Businesses and organizations may also adopt a cleanup site or register through Aruba Volunteers.

The volunteer platform lists National Clean-Up Day activities in multiple areas, including Cura Cabai, Brazil, San Nicolas, Pos Chiquito, Santa Cruz and Hooiberg.

Safety Materials Donated for Volunteers

During the press conference, Yirman Pacheco of All Safety Wear presented a donation of materials for participating volunteers.

The contribution included protective gloves that can be used by people collecting litter and handling waste during the campaign.

Pacheco encouraged other business owners to support the initiative, particularly members of Aruba’s Latin American business community.

Companies can assist by donating equipment, safety supplies, refreshments or staff time.

Organizers believe private-sector participation will help ensure that volunteer groups have the resources needed to work safely and effectively.

Community Centres Join National Campaign

Several neighbourhood centres will also participate in the campaign.

Waste containers will be placed in designated parking areas, while garbage bags will be made available to residents who want to clean their own streets and neighbourhoods.

Participants have been asked to read the official disposal instructions carefully before beginning their activities.

Large, heavy or unsuitable materials should be transported directly to the designated waste zone in Barcadera.

Neighbourhood containers should mainly be used for smaller waste items and litter collected along roadsides and in public spaces.

Following the disposal guidelines will help prevent containers from becoming overloaded or filled with materials that require specialized handling.

Campaign Promotes National Unity

Prime Minister Eman said interest in the initiative continues to grow, with increasing numbers of residents, businesses and organizations offering assistance.

The campaign is intended to unite Aruba regardless of social, political or cultural differences.

Government agencies, SETAR, CEDE Aruba, businesses, community centres and volunteers will work together toward a shared objective: keeping Aruba clean and well maintained.

The official initiative calls on all sectors of society to take responsibility for the island’s public spaces and protect them for future generations.

More Than a One-Day Cleanup

The National Day to Care for Aruba is designed to promote more than a single day of waste collection.

Organizers want the campaign to encourage lasting changes in how residents manage litter, maintain neighbourhoods and protect shared spaces.

Participants are being encouraged to continue caring for the areas they clean after the national event concludes.

Businesses can support future activities through donations, volunteer teams and the adoption of specific community locations.

Residents can contribute by disposing of waste properly, reporting illegal dumping and helping maintain streets, beaches, parks and neighbourhood facilities.

Through SETAR Aruba Cleanup Support and contributions from other organizations, the July 25 campaign aims to demonstrate what can be achieved when the government, private sector and community work as one team.

The goal is to create a cleaner Aruba while strengthening pride, responsibility and cooperation throughout the island.
