ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Several outstanding contributors to Aruba’s primary sector were recognized during the second edition of Fiesta di Cunucu, organized by the Department of Elderly Affairs (DOZ) and the Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries (Santa Rosa).
The event, held alongside Mercado Santa Rosa, attracted large crowds who enjoyed traditional food, fresh produce, local products, and live music throughout the day.
As part of the celebration, Santa Rosa honored five individuals with the title “Amigo di Santa Rosa” for their lifelong dedication to agriculture, fishing, beekeeping, and horticulture.
The recipients included veteran beekeeper Luis “Luee Bee” Winterdaal, fisherman Elauterio “Techi” Briesen, farmer Gregorio Wolff, horticulturist Yasheng Li, and longtime farmer Francisco Simon “Chico” Croes.
Certificates and commemorative plaques were presented by Primary Sector Minister Geoffrey Wever and Health and Elderly Affairs Minister Mervin Wyatt-Ras in recognition of the honorees’ lasting contributions to Aruba’s agricultural community.
Santa Rosa and the Government of Aruba thanked the recipients for their decades of service and commitment to preserving the island’s primary sector.
