Parliament President Marlon Sneek has announced that the annual Premio Hala di Shoco will be celebrated once again this year. This recognition is dedicated to talented young individuals who, through their dedication and commitment, make a special contribution to the Aruban community. Sneek stated that the award aims to recognize and motivate the younger generation by providing them with a platform to showcase the positive impact they create across various sectors of society.
He emphasized that the talent and efforts of a young person are often identified by a coach, teacher, organization, or another individual who follows their progress and appreciates their contribution. Consequently, the nomination system is open to allow third parties to submit a candidate’s name. The President of Parliament indicated that the intention is to maintain this initiative as an annual tradition.
The official presentation of the award will take place on the morning of the second Tuesday of September, during the opening of the Parliamentary year, where the winner will be announced and honored. To participate in the nomination process, the candidate must be between 15 and 24 years of age. Additionally, they must be of Dutch nationality or be able to prove more than ten years of legal residence in Aruba.
The official nomination period begins on June 3, 2026, and closes on July 3, 2026. Interested parties can obtain all necessary information to participate by scanning a QR code available on the Parliament’s Facebook page and its official website. Through this system, the nomination form and the list of required documentation can be downloaded.
