ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Fundacion Trampolin pa Trabou has received an international nomination for the prestigious “Appeltjes van Oranje” award, a recognition granted in the Netherlands to social organizations that positively impact vulnerable groups.
According to Joraine Lopez, Team Leader of Fundacion Trampolin pa Trabou, the organization focuses on assisting individuals with limitations who face barriers due to the drastic drop in the local labor market. Lopez stated that inclusion must begin at a young age, emphasizing that people with physical or intellectual limitations need opportunities within society. She noted that despite their talent and skills, many individuals with limitations struggle to find decent employment. The foundation continues to work hard to create opportunities for clients to achieve independence and a brighter future.
The foundation is among 50 organizations nominated for the prize, which recognizes social initiatives within the Netherlands. Only three foundations in Aruba received this nomination, with a total of nine selected from the Dutch Caribbean. Isabella Trimon of Fundacion Sonrisa expressed pride in representing Aruba on this international platform, stating that the nomination provides visibility for the importance of labor and social inclusion.
“The fact that we were nominated shows that our work is recognized and appreciated. This gives more visibility to the importance of labor and social inclusion for people with limitations,” Trimon said.
