The Aruba Coast Guard (Wardacosta) successfully coordinated the rescue of five individuals aboard a charter boat on Monday morning. The Maritime Operations Center received an emergency distress signal via VHF channel 16 while the vessel was navigating in Aruban waters. The crew reported that water had begun entering the boat, necessitating immediate assistance.
In response to the call, authorities deployed a helicopter to monitor the situation from above while simultaneously dispatching two Metal Shark units from Savaneta. The rescue operation was bolstered by local fishing boats in the area, which also intercepted the distress call and navigated toward the vessel to provide aid.
Through the joint efforts of the Coast Guard units and surrounding civilian vessels, the distressed boat was escorted safely to the pier at Renaissance Marina. The Coast Guard extended thanks to all participating boats, emphasizing that the collaborative response demonstrates the maritime community’s shared commitment to safety.
