ORANJESTAD (AAN): A group of 15 students from Filomena College MAVO in San Nicolas, Aruba, recently embarked on an 8-day educational trip to Italy as part of the European project Erasmus Plus. The students were selected after a thorough selection process, and the group consisted of Keldrixia Arrindell, Shalienne Brown, Amir Croes, Jayson Cuevas, Kaylee-Ann Gomez, Brandon Kingsale, Erline Kock, Maya Gordon, Emily Mohamed, Kiandra Nicolaas, Valentina Rivas, Jennely Tromp, Qianna Werleman, Arthur Willems, and Jhairion Williams.
Accompanying the students were teachers Raquel Lampe, Mariela Carrion, and Daisy Franken. During their visit to Italy, the students had the opportunity to explore major historical and cultural landmarks such as the Vatican Museum, Fontana di Trevi, Sistine Chapel, St. Peter’s Basilica, the Colosseum, and the Pantheon. They also participated in a recreational workshop where they learned how to make Italian pizza.
The students spent time in Rome’s city center, experiencing the city’s rich history and vibrant atmosphere. They also visited Rome’s first Museum Station, which had opened just two months before their arrival.
Additionally, the group participated in a cultural exchange at ISSS Charles Darwin, where they joined the Erasmus Plus student mobility program. This experience not only allowed the students to learn about Italy’s history and culture but also to engage in meaningful interactions with local students and educators.
The group extends their gratitude to Erasmus Plus and ISSS Charles Darwin, as well as to the teachers and coordinators, especially Antonio Sciortino and Eleonora Minelli, for their support. The students also expressed their appreciation to their own teachers, Raquel Lampe, Daisy Franken, and Mariela Carrion, for their dedication and support throughout the trip.
