To protect and preserve our cultural identity for present and future generations, a national commission has been established to work on a National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage that requires urgent protection.

The commission consists of official representatives from UNESCO, the Department of Culture (DCA), the National Archive of Aruba (ANA), the National Library of Aruba (BNA), the National Archaeological Museum of Aruba (MANA), and the Union of Aruban Cultural Organizations (UNOCA).

This inventory is part of the national effort to identify, document, and promote our traditions, customs, expressions, and cultural knowledge that are at risk of disappearing if we do not take immediate action.

The commission’s primary mission is to create a comprehensive inventory of vulnerable cultural elements, coordinate with cultural organizations, neighborhoods, traditional bearers, and the community as a whole.

Additionally, the commission is tasked with presenting recommendations for the protection and promotion of Aruba’s intangible cultural heritage.

The launch of this national inventory is an important event for Aruba in its commitment to UNESCO and our obligation to preserve our cultural heritage.

For this reason, a call is being made to all community members to share their knowledge, traditions, and contributions to help bring this inventory to a complete and representative level.

You can fill out the survey via the following link: Survey Link

For more information, you can contact the National Commission for Intangible Cultural Heritage Aruba via email: patrimonioaruba@outlook.com or through the Facebook page: Patrimonio Cultural Intangibel di Aruba, as well as Instagram: pci.aruba.

Cultural heritage is the root of our people. Together, we can preserve and strengthen it!
