The Julio Euson mural Aruba tribute brought together community members, officials, and cultural leaders to honor one of Aruba’s most celebrated artists.

The emotional ceremony took place on March 17 at Chocolate City Bar & Restaurant, where a special mural dedicated to Julio Euson’s musical legacy was officially unveiled. The event gathered government representatives, family members, and the wider community in a heartfelt celebration of his life and contributions.

The Julio Euson mural Aruba tribute began with an introduction by MC Elizabeth Guanipa, highlighting Euson’s influence in music and his role as a cultural ambassador for Aruba on the international stage.

A Tribute Filled with Culture and Emotion

A touching moment during the ceremony came when Grace Marsdin Euson, his niece, recited a poem dedicated to his legacy. This was followed by an audiovisual presentation prepared by Tito Bolívar and his team, showcasing Euson’s remarkable international career.

Tito Bolívar also expressed gratitude for the collaboration behind the mural, emphasizing its importance as part of San Nicolas’ ongoing cultural transformation.

A Mural That Captures His Spirit

The highlight of the event was the unveiling of the mural, created by artist Rasheed Lowe. The artwork captures the essence of Julio Euson—his charisma, stage presence, and unique ability to connect with audiences.

Prime Minister Mike Eman described the mural as a powerful reflection of Euson’s legacy, stating that it embodies his charm and the way he touched the hearts of people.

A Voice of Hope in Difficult Times

During his speech, the Prime Minister reflected on Euson’s impact during one of Aruba’s most challenging periods—the 1984 refinery closure, which caused economic uncertainty across the island.

He recalled how Euson’s return to Aruba during that time gave the people hope. Thousands gathered to witness his performance, marking a historic and emotional moment for the nation.

Gratitude and Recognition

The Julio Euson mural Aruba tribute also included words of appreciation for those who made the project possible. Special recognition was given to Tito Bolívar for his vision in promoting murals in San Nicolas, as well as to artist Rasheed Lowe for bringing the tribute to life.

Thanks were also extended to Minister of Tourism Wendrick Cicilia, the Aruba Tourism Authority for funding, and the Chocolate City team for providing the venue.

A Lasting Cultural Legacy

Following the unveiling, attendees participated in an open exhibition, creating a space for connection through art and history.

The Julio Euson mural Aruba tribute formed part of the celebrations marking 40 years of Status Aparte and 50 years of the National Anthem and Flag, highlighting the role of culture in shaping Aruba’s identity.

This tribute not only honors a legendary artist but also serves as a reminder that music and culture can inspire unity and hope, even in the most difficult times.
