The Aruba St Maarten cadastre collaboration was officially strengthened with the signing of a Letter of Intent (LOI) between Kadaster St. Maarten and DLV/Kadaster Aruba.

The agreement was signed during an official visit to Aruba by Benjamin Ortega, Director of Kadaster St. Maarten, who was welcomed by Minister René Herdé, Minister of Housing, Infrastructure, Internal Services, and Telecommunications.

This Aruba St Maarten cadastre collaboration represents an important step toward enhancing regional cooperation in land registration and geospatial information management across the Caribbean.

The agreement is also part of a broader initiative to establish a Caribbean Cadastre Association (CCA). This regional platform aims to promote knowledge sharing, professional development, and collaboration among cadastral institutions.

Through the LOI, both parties expressed their intention to work together in several key areas, including:

  • Exchange of technical knowledge and best practices in land registration

  • Collaboration in geospatial data management

  • Training and professional development for cadastral staff

  • Dialogue on governance structures and legal frameworks

  • Exploration of innovative technologies, including GIS systems, cartography, and drone applications

The agreement is non-binding, allowing both institutions to collaborate voluntarily while exploring practical initiatives to strengthen cadastral systems in the region.

During the visit, discussions also included potential future projects focused on improving cadastral services, infrastructure data management, and regional networking among Caribbean cadastre organizations.

The Government of Aruba views the Aruba St Maarten cadastre collaboration as a key step toward modernizing land administration, strengthening technical capacity, and promoting sustainable regional development.
