According to initial reports, the accident occurred on the road from Ponton to Noord, just north of the Tanki Flip roundabout. A male pedestrian was hit while crossing the road.
Witnesses who contacted the police explained that they saw the vehicle strike the pedestrian as he was crossing. The victim was thrown onto the roadway. To prevent further tragedy, bystanders stopped and moved the injured man off the asphalt onto the sidewalk, where they waited with him for police and emergency services to arrive.
A police patrol unit was immediately dispatched, and the alarm center alerted ambulance services.
Upon arrival, officers found the injured male pedestrian lying on the sidewalk. Witnesses told police that the pedestrian attempted to cross the road when a Kia Cerato sedan traveling north at high speed struck him. The vehicle reportedly managed to brake and came to a stop a short distance north of where the collision occurred.

Meanwhile, police requested the presence of traffic specialists and the forensic traffic team (BFTO) to document the scene and take necessary measurements.
The paramedics stabilized the victim, applied a splint to his leg, and transported him by ambulance to the Emergency Department of the hospital for further medical treatment.
