The “National Library 75yearscelebrates with a special community mosaic project that now beautifies the grounds of its main building in Oranjestad.
The anniversary project was developed in collaboration with mosaic artist Enrita Werleman and her students from Atelier Mosaic, located at Sta. Cruz 111. At the invitation of Library Director Astrid Britten, the group designed and completed an impressive mosaic installation for the library.
Together with library staff, the artists decorated a concrete table and two benches using colorful mosaic tiles. The finished pieces were placed in a designated seating area beneath a watapana tree, creating a welcoming and artistic space where visitors can relax and enjoy the surroundings.
The artisans who contributed to the project include Donna Oduber, Livia Solognier, Dolores Machado, Dulce Goedgedrag, Deta Denters, Mariela Geerman, Bernadette Schouten, Grace Irausquin, Glenda Croes, and illustrator Ria Arrindell-Broeks. Library employees also actively participated in bringing the mosaic artwork to completion.
Through this creative initiative, the National Library celebrates 75 years while strengthening community involvement and enhancing cultural appreciation in Aruba.
