ORANJESTAD (AAN): The Jan Peter Balkenende visit Ayo Rock Formation Aruba marked a meaningful and reflective moment during the former Dutch Prime Minister’s stay on the island.

Before departing Aruba, Jan Peter Balkenende paid a special visit to Ayo Rock Formation, where he received a presentation on the history of Aruba’s ancestors and the ancient rock paintings found at the site. The visit concluded with a traditional local breakfast, creating space for reflection on Aruba’s history, culture, and identity.

During the Jan Peter Balkenende visit Ayo Rock Formation Aruba, the former prime minister shared that the experience deeply impacted him—not only because of the rock formations themselves, but especially through hearing the stories of Aruba’s original inhabitants. He explained that these narratives offered him a deeper understanding of the island’s past and the significance of the location.

“It was enormously impressive and educational to hear the stories of the original population and to have respect for those who first lived here,” Balkenende said.

He emphasized that respect for Aruba’s first inhabitants is essential to understanding the island’s identity and recognizing the value of its cultural heritage. According to Balkenende, the Jan Peter Balkenende visit Ayo Rock Formation Aruba was not only informative, but also emotional and personal.

The visit served as a symbolic conclusion to his time on the island, combining historical reflection with cultural dialogue. The experience highlighted the importance of preserving and sharing Aruba’s history—not only for its own people, but also for international visitors seeking a deeper understanding of the island and its past.
