City Inspector Removes Unauthorized Plot Markings Along Henny Eman Boulevard

The Bureau City Inspector (BCI), in cooperation with the Department of Infrastructure and Planning (DIP), has removed unauthorized plot markings placed along Henny Eman Boulevard (formerly Smith Boulevard) after reports were received earlier this week.

According to Maikel Gomes, Public Relations Officer of the Bureau City Inspector, several individuals had marked plots along the public roadway without having the required permits. As a result, BCI and DIP took action on Monday morning to remove the markings.

Gomes explained that only officially authorized parties are allowed to mark plots, and even then, such actions may only take place after permits have been granted, usually closer to Carnival. However, members of the public have already begun placing ropes, chains, cables, and other objects on public roads without approval.

“At this moment, nothing is permitted,” Gomes emphasized. “No benches, no ropes, no chains, no cables. All markings have been removed and will remain prohibited until DIP officially grants the necessary permits.”

BCI continues to monitor all major routes closely to ensure public safety and proper use of public space.

Gomes also noted that, as every year, the Bureau City Inspector is already preparing for Carnival activities, including discussions about parade routes and designated areas. Special attention will be given to major parades and lighting parades.

Finally, Gomes issued a reminder to the public to keep roads and public areas clean before and after Carnival events. He also encouraged beachgoers and party attendees to leave beaches and public spaces as they found them, stressing: “Enjoy responsibly, but don’t leave trash behind.”
