Baki den Bario” Community Clean-Up Takes Place Tomorrow in Barcadera

The final “Baki den Bario” community clean-up action of 2025 will take place tomorrow in Barcadera, marking another milestone in Aruba’s ongoing efforts to promote cleaner neighborhoods and responsible waste disposal.

Speaking during a press moment held this morning at the designated location, the Prime Minister of Aruba emphasized that joint efforts are delivering positive results. Together with Minister of Tourism Wendrick Cicilia and various departments involved in the project, the government extended an invitation to residents — especially those from Simeon Antonio, Cas Paloma, Mahuma, Wayaca, Companashi, and Santa Marta — to participate in this final action of the year.

The Prime Minister explained that Baki den Bario is a collaborative community initiative that requires both logistical organization and financial support. Thanks to backing from the Ministry of Tourism, the monthly clean-up actions have been successfully sustained.

Looking ahead to 2026, the government aims to install permanent waste container stations in strategic locations across the island. Six potential sites are currently under consideration to provide structured, accessible, and coordinated disposal options, allowing residents to safely dispose of waste 24/7.

This weekend’s Baki den Bario action will take place on the open lot just below Arugas in Barcadera, where large containers will be available for the public to dispose of bulk waste.

Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to clean their homes, neighborhoods, schools, clubs, and businesses, and to bring all unwanted waste to Barcadera during the event.

In addition, the Prime Minister — accompanied by representatives from several social institutions and government departments — will also visit the Kiviti neighborhood today as part of the weekly Accion di Bario, engaging directly with residents to assess needs and offer support.

The community of Barcadera and surrounding neighborhoods is invited to begin preparing their waste in advance and participate in this collective effort toward a cleaner, healthier Aruba.

The event will run from 7:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., with multiple departments on site to coordinate waste drop-off and manage traffic flow efficiently.
