Haiti Shines Bright with Historic World Cup Qualification

For the first time since 1974, the football-passionate Caribbean nation of Haiti has officially qualified for the FIFA World Cup.

During the Concacaf Nations League in Oranjestad, Aruba, on October 11th, Haiti faced Aruba in a League B – Group C match—one of several intense fixtures leading up to their historic achievement. Despite playing all of their home matches in neutral venues, Haiti defied challenges and earned their place on football’s biggest stage.

Haiti secured the top spot in Group C during the third round of Concacaf qualifying after a decisive 2–0 victory over Nicaragua on the final matchday. This remarkable run brings Les Grenadiers back to the World Cup for only the second time in their history.

Throughout qualifying, Haiti stood strong against tough opponents like Costa Rica, Honduras, and a fast-rising Nicaragua. Their resilience paid off when superstar striker Duckens Nazon delivered a stunning hat-trick against Costa Rica, turning a 2–0 deficit into a 3–3 draw.
Nazon finished the campaign as the top scorer in Concacaf, just five goals away from becoming Haiti’s all-time leading scorer.

Haiti also secured second place in the previous qualifying round after competing against Saint Lucia, Aruba, and Barbados. Their journey was marked by both setbacks and inspirational comebacks—yet they pushed through every obstacle.

With this qualification, the people of Haiti now celebrate a long-awaited return to the global football spotlight. Next year, the nation will proudly stand among the world’s best teams at the FIFA World Cup 2026 in North America.
