The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued an urgent travel warning, advising Dutch citizens and legal residents of Aruba not to travel to Venezuela or Haiti under any circumstances.
According to the Ministry, the security and political situations in both countries have worsened, leading to the travel advisory being elevated to code orange and red, the highest risk levels.
The Government of Aruba and the Directorate of Foreign Relations (DBB) have endorsed this advisory, stressing that traveling to either destination could pose serious safety and legal risks.
Authorities warn that even travelers visiting family or relatives could face detention upon arrival in Venezuela, and since the Dutch Embassy is not operational in either country, it would be extremely difficult to receive help in case of emergencies or arrests.
Under code red, travel is strictly discouraged except in cases of absolute necessity. The Kingdom of the Netherlands continues to monitor the situation closely amid growing regional instability.
The Ministry urges all citizens:
“Stay safe and always consult official government sources before planning any trip.”
