Over the past weekend, President of the Aruban Olympic Committee (COA), Mrs. Wanda Broeksema, represented Aruba at the General Assembly of the Caribbean Association of National Olympic Committees (CANOC), held in Georgetown, Guyana.

The meeting brought together representatives from 19 Caribbean nations, engaging in insightful discussions about the development of sports within the region. CANOC President Mr. Keith Joseph opened the assembly by expressing gratitude to the Guyana Olympic Committee for their hospitality and commitment to aligning sports with the country’s social and economic progress.

During the event, the Paraguayan Olympic Committee also participated and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with CANOC to promote collaboration in sports development throughout the region. This agreement highlights a strong shared interest in enhancing sports management and strengthening relationships among the various National Olympic Committees.

Finally, the Government of Guyana and other participating countries applauded CANOC’s leadership and efforts toward strengthening sports governance and capacity building. The assembly concluded on a positive note, emphasizing the spirit of cooperation, knowledge exchange, and the shared goal of advancing sports in the Caribbean.
