For the first time in its history, the Central Bank of Aruba (BCA) will open its doors to the public for a historic event: “Conoce BO Banco Central” (Get to Know Your Central Bank) on Saturday, November 22, 2025, offering an educational and interactive experience where adults and children can discover the Bank’s essential role in Aruba’s economy and community.

During a press conference, Penelope Tromp-Gomez, Division Manager for Payment System, Treasury & Banking Operations, underscored the BCA’s ongoing commitment to informing the public. “For the first time, the BCA is opening its doors to the people of Aruba to offer the opportunity to learn more about our mission, values, and role as the Central Bank.” She added that, as part of the Bank’s visual identity refresh, the BCA is not only updating its look but also strengthening its commitment to engage with the community and deepen understanding of the Bank’s role.

Haydelyn Thijsen, Manager, Executive Office, detailed the four information sections visitors can explore throughout the day:

  1. BCA — Past, Present & Future: Core tasks, history, strategic direction, and careers at the Central Bank of Aruba.
  2. Our Treasure — Aruba’s Florin: An exhibition of banknotes and coins from the past and present (and a look ahead).
  3. Cyber Operations: Interactive activities to raise cybersecurity awareness.
  4. Smart Money — Your Finances in Your Hands: Interactive financial workshops for adults and kids on budgeting and saving, plus educational games and puzzles for children.

Elmelynn Croes, Senior Economist, shared logistics: there will be ample neighborhood parking and a well-stocked canteen by Kiwanis Palm Beach. The event features collaboration with the Aruba Police Force (KPA) K9 Unit, Fire Department, and Ambulance Service, giving visitors the chance to learn about their work as well.

Closing the announcement, Tromp-Gomez emphasized that the event is an opportunity to meet not just the institution but the dynamic team behind it. She thanked the BCA team for their dedication to making the event a success.

The Central Bank of Aruba warmly invites the entire community to attend “Conoce BO Banco Central” on November 22, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The BCA promises a day filled with knowledge, discovery, and inspiration—a clear sign of its commitment to integrity, sustainability, and responsibility toward Aruba’s community.
