Aruba Government Signs MOU for Sustainable Economic Development

On Friday afternoon, Prime Minister Mike Eman, together with Minister of Tourism Wendrick Cicilia, met with key representatives from Aruba’s tourism and business sectors to chart a new course for sustainable growth.

The meeting brought together the Aruba Hotel and Tourism Association (AHATA), Vacation Rental Professionals of Aruba (VPRA), Aruba Association of Realtors, Aruba Port Authority (APA), Aruba Airport Authority (AAA), and the Aruba Tourism Authority (ATA).

Recognizing tourism’s central role in Aruba’s economic and social development, and the environmental, social, infrastructure, and economic challenges the island faces, the government emphasized the need for change. The discussions culminated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), committing all parties to work toward a more sustainable economy.

With a shared focus on the common good, sustainability, and the well-being of the Aruban people, the government and stakeholders agreed to establish a structured process of dialogue and collaboration. This will guide joint policies, agreements, and initiatives to ensure a stronger and more sustainable future for Aruba’s tourism industry.

Signatories of the MOU include Prime Minister Mike Eman; Tisa LaSorte Henriquez (AHATA); Alex Cybul (VPRA); Ronella Croes (ATA); Jurgen Benschop (AAA); Bruce Franken (APA); and Cindy Ruittemanz (Aruba Association of Realtors).
