ARUBA – A curated familiarization trip hosted by IHG Hotels & Resorts and JOIA recently brought 14 of North America’s most influential meeting and event planners to Aruba, showcasing why the island is quickly becoming a preferred destination in the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) industry.

The exclusive “Aruba Effect with IHG” initiative spotlighted the island’s unique blend of world-class hospitality, vibrant culture, and strong commitment to sustainability. In partnership with the Aruba Convention Bureau (ACB), the event featured immersive experiences including a destination presentation and elegant dinner at Quinta del Carmen—designed to inspire future group business on the island.

Purpose-Driven Planning and Island Hospitality

Planners were introduced to Aruba’s dedication to corporate social responsibility (CSR), sustainability, and the preservation of local heritage. These values deeply resonated with attendees, offering new ways to infuse purpose into future corporate and incentive events.

Representatives from leading organizations participated, including:

  • Direct Travel

  • HelmsBriscoe

  • Event Plus Global

  • ConferenceDirect

  • Checklist Events

  • One10

  • BCD Meetings & Events

  • BI Worldwide

  • Amex Travel

Each planner experienced the “Aruba Effect” firsthand through tailored site visits and immersive cultural activities. Key trip collaborators included Tammy Kargar (JOIA), Wichita Villacres, and Maoreen Every (ECO DMS).

Aruba’s Strong Presence at IMEX Frankfurt 2025

At this year’s IMEX Frankfurt, one of the world’s most prominent MICE trade shows, Aruba delivered a standout performance. Led by the ACB and supported by key hospitality brands, the Aruba team scheduled hundreds of appointments with global planners and hosted two signature networking events: One Happy Hour and a rooftop reception that drew widespread acclaim.

The island’s MICE proposition resonated especially with Canadian and European planners, many of whom are actively seeking alternatives to U.S.-based destinations due to ongoing political and economic concerns. Aruba emerged as a top choice for its accessibility, safety, and welcoming atmosphere.

Showcasing Partnership Power

Booth partners at IMEX Frankfurt included:

  • Marriott

  • Hilton

  • Secrets Resorts

  • De Palm Tours

  • Eco DMS

  • Arawak

  • JOIA

  • Ritz-Carlton Aruba

  • St. Regis Aruba

Together, they highlighted Aruba’s robust infrastructure for hosting large-scale and luxury business events.

The IRF Invitational: Where Business Meets Purpose

Aruba’s role as a leading incentive travel destination was further amplified during the Incentive Research Foundation (IRF) Invitational, a premier event bringing together professionals in rewards, recognition, and business travel.

This year’s program featured:

  • Insightful educational sessions

  • Dynamic keynote presentations

  • Strategic networking opportunities

  • Experiential showcases set across Aruba

The ACB partnered with influential hospitality figures such as Mark DiMartino (Hilton), Shannon Crowther and Maria Day (JOIA), Sergino Croes (Arawak), and Joely Jackson (Ritz-Carlton and St. Regis Aruba) to present the island’s value to industry leaders.

Aruba: A Destination for Purpose-Driven Events

From IMEX Frankfurt to the IRF Invitational and customized site inspections for planners, Aruba continues to reinforce its position as a top-tier business travel destination. The “Aruba Effect with IHG” encapsulates the island’s strengths—cultural richness, natural beauty, exceptional service, and forward-thinking sustainability.

For organizations and planners seeking more than just a venue, Aruba delivers lasting value and memorable moments. Now is the time to experience the Aruba effect—and discover how business truly meets purpose on this Caribbean gem.
