Aruba – May 24, 2025 — The Divi Impact Foundation celebrated a major milestone on Saturday as it hosted the 5th Annual Alex Nieuwmeyer Memorial Golf Tournament at the scenic Divi Links Golf Course. This year’s event raised an impressive AWG 100,000 for the Brighter Future Academy Foundation, a school dedicated to children with Autism and Down syndrome in Aruba.

A Packed Tournament with Big Energy and Bigger Purpose

The tournament, which reached full capacity for the fifth consecutive year, welcomed golf enthusiasts, community leaders, and supporters to a day filled with competitive play and heartfelt giving. A highlight of the event was the Hole-in-One Challenge at Hole 7, where players vied for a chance to win a brand-new KIA EV5. While no one claimed the vehicle, the challenge added excitement and buzz to the course.

Doubling the Impact: A Surprise Gift

During the closing ceremony, Ricardo Veldwijk, President of the Divi Impact Foundation, surprised guests by presenting two donation checks totaling AWG 100,000. While the Brighter Future Academy had anticipated a generous gift from the tournament, the additional AWG 65,000—raised over the past year by Divi employees and supporters—moved the school’s representatives to tears.

“This was more than a donation—it was a moment of unity and hope,” said a spokesperson for Brighter Future Academy. “We were overwhelmed by the kindness.”

Honoring a Legacy of Community Leadership

The tournament honors the memory of Alex Nieuwmeyer, former Managing Director of Divi Resorts, who was celebrated for his commitment to both excellence in hospitality and giving back to the Aruban community. His legacy continues to inspire Divi’s focus on education, wellness, and inclusion through this growing annual event.

A Testament to Corporate Social Responsibility

The 2025 edition of the Divi Impact Golf Tournament showcased more than golf—it highlighted the powerful role of corporate social responsibility within Aruba’s tourism and hospitality industries. From thrilling moments on the green to touching acts of generosity, the tournament united people through sport and shared purpose.
