Celebrating Purpose-Driven Hospitality That Cares for Aruba’s People, Nature, and Identity

Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort has once again been recognized for its commitment to Aruba’s future, earning two prestigious 2025 AHATA Impact Awards. The awards, presented by the Aruba Hotel and Tourism Association (AHATA), honored the resort in the categories of Championing Cultural Heritage and Environmental Conservation.

As a locally owned resort deeply rooted in purpose, Bucuti & Tara is known not just for its beautiful setting, but for creating authentic, sustainable, and meaningful experiences for guests. These two new awards reflect the resort’s continued efforts to care for Aruba’s people, nature, and cultural identity.

Recognized by Leaders in Culture and Sustainability

An independent panel selected the winners, including respected community and academic leaders: Daniel Tecklenborg (CEDE), Edjean Semeleer (GoCultura), Francielle Lacle and Rosabelle Illes (University of Aruba), and Jan Noordzij (Advance HR). For Bucuti & Tara, this double win marks a proud moment in what has already been an outstanding year.

Leading the Way in Environmental Excellence

The resort’s award for Environmental Conservation builds on its past recognition, including winning AHATA’s first-ever Environmental Protection Impact Award in 2023. Instead of relying on carbon credits like many others, Bucuti & Tara has made real reductions in emissions—working toward becoming Net Zero for emissions under Scopes 1 and 2.

Through ongoing innovation, the resort has introduced:

  • A fully electric, fossil-fuel-free kitchen
  • Advanced VRF air-conditioning systems
  • Energy-saving MIG coatings
  • A fleet of 100% electric vehicles
  • Heat pump water systems replacing gas
  • A zero-waste system in its food & beverage department

These actions have not only lowered emissions but have become a model of sustainability that the United Nations has called “highly replicable and scalable” for the global hospitality industry.

Empowering the Community with Green Loans

Taking sustainability even further, Bucuti & Tara introduced Green Loans for employees, helping them invest in eco-friendly solutions like solar panels, electric vehicles, and home insulation. This initiative empowers the resort’s team to live more sustainably beyond the workplace.

Setting the Standard Worldwide

Bucuti & Tara remains the only certified CarbonNeutral® hotel in the Caribbean and holds numerous global eco-certifications:

  • Green Globe Platinum
  • Travelife Gold
  • LEED Gold

In 2024, it also became the first hotel in the world to achieve two consecutive perfect 100% audit scores from Green Globe—an extraordinary feat compared to the global average of 63%.

Bucuti & Tara continues to set the gold standard for responsible tourism, proving that luxury and sustainability can go hand in hand—for the benefit of Aruba and the planet.
