You’ve finally arrived in paradise, ready for sunshine and white sand… but instead, you wake to grey skies. While rare, rain does happen in Aruba. But don’t worry—this Happy Island still offers plenty of sunshine in spirit, even when the clouds roll in.

With an average temperature of 82°F and minimal rainfall (only about 18 inches per year), Aruba is one of the Caribbean’s driest islands. Rain usually comes in short bursts, but in the off chance of a tropical shower, we’ve got you covered with a list of fun, cozy, and cultural things to do while the sun takes a short break.

🌴 Top Rainy Day Activities in Aruba

1. Pamper Yourself at a Spa
A little rain makes a spa day even more relaxing. Book a massage, facial, or mani-pedi at one of Aruba’s top wellness centers, like eforea Spa at Hilton Resort or Gold Coast Aruba Spa.

2. Hit the Casinos or Arcades
Try your luck indoors at Wind Creek Crystal or Seaport Casino. If you’re traveling with kids, check out Arcade Aruba or Dream Bowl in Palm Beach Plaza—glowing lanes, arcade games, and snacks await!

3. Watch a Movie Like a VIP
Aruba’s cinemas, including The Movies at Gloria and Caribbean Cinemas at Palm Beach Plaza, feature reclining seats and food service—making it the perfect escape from the drizzle.

4. Go on a Foodie Adventure
Use the weather as your excuse to taste your way around the island. Aruba’s global cuisine offers everything from sushi to authentic Caribbean dishes. Local tip: Don’t miss Charlie’s Bar!

5. Stay In and Recharge
Use this rare rain day to chill. Order room service, binge-watch movies, or take a nap. If your hotel doesn’t deliver, Aruba has food delivery options to satisfy any craving.

6. Hit the Beach Anyway
Unless it’s a thunderstorm, Aruba’s beaches can still be enjoyed in light rain. In fact, fewer crowds and the chance to collect sea glass or rare shells make it a hidden gem experience.

7. Look for Rainbows
Keep your camera ready! Aruba’s tropical showers often bring stunning rainbows—double or even full-circle “sun dogs” are not uncommon.

8. Explore Aruba’s Culture
Visit the Fort Zoutman Historical Museum, San Nicolas Community Museum, or the fascinating Etnia Nativa Art Gallery. These indoor gems offer insight into Aruba’s rich multicultural history.

9. Go Shopping
Retail therapy can turn any rainy day sunny. Explore Renaissance Mall, Paseo Herencia, or local artisan shops for unique finds and perfect souvenirs.

10. Appreciate the Rain, Island Style
While you’re wishing for sunshine, locals are smiling—rain brings needed hydration to our flora and fauna. After even a light shower, Aruba’s landscapes become greener and more vibrant overnight.
