In an interview with Matutino DIARIO, Michelle Every, board member of the Aruba Football Association (AVB) and the women’s national team, announced that the team is actively preparing for the 2025–2026 Concacaf and Women’s World Cup Qualifiers — which will be held in Aruba for the very first time.
“This will be a historic moment because, for the first time ever, Aruba will host these qualifier matches. The games will take place next Friday at the Guillermo Prospero Trinidad Sports Complex,” Michelle explained.
Aruba has been placed in a group where they will compete against Panama, Cuba, Curaçao, and St. Kitts & Nevis.
“They will play a total of six matches, and the team with the highest points will qualify for the 2027 World Cup in Brazil. The players recently completed training in the Netherlands alongside their coaches. We currently have one training group in the Netherlands and another in Aruba, and soon they will come together for joint preparation,” Michelle added.
The players are highly motivated and confident. Many of them were part of the U15 team that became champions in 2021 — practically the same group returning with experience and chemistry. “We have full confidence that they will succeed because they are capable and determined,” she said.
Michelle also made an appeal to the entire community of Aruba to support the women’s national team. “They are capable, they are strong, and they are ready.”
Next Friday, the match will begin at 8:00 PM, preceded by a short opening ceremony for the players. “We will start with the national anthem and the football jingle that was released yesterday — it’s an opportunity for Aruba to do what it does best: support, cheer, and create an amazing atmosphere,” Michelle Every stated.
