Visitor Numbers, Spending, and Accommodation Trends Show Positive Momentum

April 2025 marked another month of solid growth for Aruba’s tourism industry. According to the Aruba Tourism Authority (ATA), the island saw increases in visitor arrivals, overnight stays, and spending, reinforcing Aruba’s position as a leading Caribbean destination—especially among travelers from North and South America.


📈 Stay-over Visitor Arrivals Up by 4.3%

A total of 126,419 stay-over visitors arrived in April 2025, up from 121,215 in April 2024. Key highlights:

  • Argentina: +93.3%

  • Brazil: +50.3%

  • Colombia: +24.3%

  • USA: Still dominates with 74.8% market share (+0.3%)


🌎 Strong Growth from the Americas

  • North America: 79.4% of total arrivals

  • South America: 13.4%, boosted by

    • Uruguay: +69.7%

    • Paraguay: +141.4%


🏨 Overnight Stays and Accommodation Trends

  • Total overnight stays: 804,986 nights (+2.1%)

  • Strongest growth in “Other” accommodations (+10.1%) — includes vacation rentals

  • European Plan (EP) hotels rose by 4.5%

  • All-inclusive stays declined by 7.2%

  • Timeshare stays decreased by 4.0%


🚢 Cruise Tourism Sees Recovery

  • 88,040 cruise passengers visited (above forecasted 83,920)

  • Cruise ship calls: 34 (planned: 30)

  • Passenger count down 14.5% from 2024 due to weather cancellations

  • APA projects 910,174 cruise visitors for 2025 (vs. 897,274 in 2024)


💵 Spending and Visitor Behavior Insights

From an airport survey of over 3,000 travelers:

  • Average spend: $325/day

    • Hotel/resort guests: $416/day

    • Timeshare visitors: $241/day

  • Affluent travelers (HHI $150K+) spend more and dominate the new visitor segment

  • Gen X & Baby Boomers: Make up over 50% of arrivals


📊 Occupancy and Daily Rate Trends

  • April 2025 occupancy rate: 59% (up from 57%)

  • ADR (Average Daily Rate): $305 (vs. $294 in 2024)


💳 Tourism Credits Continue to Rise

Under new accounting standards, tourism receipts are now called Tourism Credits.
From Q1–Q3 2024, credits reached Afl. 4,030.9 million, up 16% from the same period in 2023—showing both increased spending and improved tracking.
